J. Dearden Holmes was a London photographer who issued miniature stereoviews for the Cavenders Ltd. Company. They were primarily a cigarette company who issued miniature stereoscopic cigarette cards in their packets. They issued nine black and white sets and two colored sets (24-36 in a set). The sets were issued between 1927 and 1931, and mostly photographed between 1915 and 1925.
The Yellowstone views produced by Holmes were part as series known as, "Peeps into Many lands, A Series of Real Photographs." Views include scenes of Indians and stagecoaches in Colorado, particularly Colorado Springs, and also views of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. Sunbeam Tours Ltd. was most likely Holmes sponsor for his United States photographic journey, and not an actual tourist type tour as some have suggested. The total number of Yellowstone views is not known, but may reach as high as 100.
