O. S. Compton is a complete mystery with regard to his Yellowstone photos. There is no record of him in any of the major historical photographers references. His few known Yellowstone views all have a copyright date of 1910. He may have been an amateur photographer. All known Compton views are held in the Yellowstone National Park Museum Collection at Mammoth.
