George W. Burch
[publishing city unknown]
George
W. Burch is an unknown photographer who issued at least
one stereoview of Yellowstone in 1913. It seems feasible that
he produced at least a small number of views of the park, based
on the fact that he had a numbering system in place. Whether he
was an amateur or professional photographer is unknown, but
judging by the quality I’d say the latter. The view seems to be
of a higher standard than most images of that decade. This
"new" publisher was alertly spotted on the internet by
collector, Andrew Finch.
13 View from the Terraces.
The above image shows the only known
Yellowstone view by George W. Burch. The scene is located at
Mammoth Hot Springs, looking south, with the National Hotel
visible in the distance.
