AMERICAN VIEWS
New York, New York

This New York company produced extensive low-quality pirated series. Most of their views were of the eastern United States and Canada. Views were issued from the 1870’s thru the 1890’s.

Of all the “no-name” pirate companies, (those that do not credit any person or photographer) the American Views have the most extensive Yellowstone coverage. Over 30 views in at least 5 styles are known by this company.

National Hotel, Yellowstone Park.

American Views with tan mounts are unique to the company. The style does not appear under any other imprint. This view shows the National Hotel at Mammoth Hot Springs.

Yellowstone Valley and River, Yellowstone Park.

The New "H" Series mounts are identical to those of the pirate company, American Scenery. Mounts labeled, "New 'H' Series" also exist that do not credit any company. This image shows a scene on the Yellowstone River just south of the Hayden Valley in the Mud Volcano area of central Yellowstone.

Geyser Formation, Yellowstone Park.

American Views with gold colored mounts are very similar to those issued by American Scenery. There is a direct relationship between these two stereoview types. The companies were either directly related or one in the same. This view shows a Geyserite formation that is likely part of Castle or Old Faithful Geyser.

Beehive Geyser Cone, Yellowstone Park.

This image of Beehive Geyser's Cone is exactly the same as the view released by the American Series. Again there is a direct relationship between these two pirate companies.

Old Faithful's Formation, Yellowstone Park.

American Views with yellow colored mounts and the hollow title lettering are unique to this company. They are the least common of all types. This view shows the original formation of Sinter around Old Faithful’s Cone.
